flight tracker app

At Plane Finder, we believe in giving everyone a chance to try our apps. That’s why we have free versions of Plane Finder and Plane Finder AR available across devices. Plane Finder Lite and Plane Finder AR Lite give you an advanced flight tracking system in your pocket for free. There are plenty of free flight tracking app options out there – but what’s the difference between a free flight tracker and a paid flight tracking app?

Basic Plane Spotting and More

Our free apps let you see, in real time, what’s flying over you – anywhere in the world. In the app, tap on a plane to follow it over the map, see images, speed, altitude and other basic flight information.

See a plane in the sky? Want to find out more about it? Using the camera on your mobile phone or tablet, you can see exactly what’s in the sky overhead. Just point your device to the sky, get the plane you want to track in your sights and hey presto – you’ve got instant flight information!

Free apps will always have some restrictions on features, and often include ads. While this is true for Plane Finder Lite, we’ve made every effort to keep the user experience as fluid as possible – and we’ve included some of our coolest features, to show you what Plane Finder can do.

Plane Finder Lite apps are fun and useful for inquisitive minds and budding plane spotters – but there’s a whole world of features ready and waiting in the full versions.

Plane Finder – for Aviation Enthusiasts

Our full-featured apps unlock advanced features – including unrestricted access to flight data, integration with Google Maps and full flight playback for flights dating all the way back to 2011.

For more authentic flight tracking, you can overlay Plane Finder with NATS charts. We partnered with NATS to bring our users three variants of NATS UK Visual Flight Rules charts, all of which are available as additions to enhance the Plane Finder experience.

Plane Finder was the first flight tracker to offer aviation charts within a flight tracking app. These specialist overlays allow users to see the locations of obstructions, waypoints and VOR beacons, local radio frequencies, no fly zones and much more.

Choose a Plane Finder App to Suit You

Whichever version of Plane Finder you choose, you’ll have a real-time flight tracking app in your pocket. Our iOS and Android Apps give a great user experience for no cost – and an even better one for the one-off price of a coffee and cake. Our apps, once purchased, work across your devices – using your Apple ID or Google account.

We hope you found this article helpful. We're a small team of enthusiasts dedicated to making live plane tracking available to everyone at the touch of a button. If you'd like to find out more why not try out one of our apps for your Android or iOS device?
