An 11-year old runaway boy managed to fly to Rome yesterday without a ticket or passport
Liam Corcoran sneaked all the way through the security checks at Manchester airport and boarded Jet2.com flight LS791 by mingling with other passengers.
The boy went all the way from Terminal 1 to the Boeing 737-300 aircraft without airport or airline staff checking for his documents or boarding pass.
The lad was eventually found out in mid flight when passengers on board the aircraft (shown above) alerted the crew that he was alone.
He was kept on board in Rome and went back home to Manchester on the same plane – Jet2.com flight number LS792.
He was reportedly met at the airport by his mother late yesterday evening.
Commenting on the incident Manchester Airport spokesman Russell Craig told Sky News that “This extremely serious matter is now being urgently investigated by officials from the airport and airline”.
He also said that “The boy went through full security screening so the safety of passengers and the aircraft was never compromised.”
Several staff at Jet2.com are reported to have been suspended pending an investigation.
